Founded in 1997, byfield-pitman is one of Ottawa's longest running photography companies. Our photographs are very candid and photojournalistic, rather than being too traditional or posed looking, but our work is best characterized by the narratives that our images evoke. Whether it's the emotion captured in a candid moment of a couple on their wedding day, or whether it's the poised and confident, yet also warm, friendly, and approachable nature that our subjects often convey in our portraits, the common thread in our photographs is how at ease people look in front of our camera.
We are Ben Welland and Colleen Johnson. We're full-time professional photographers based in the Glebe, and we're co-owners of byfield-pitman photography. We photograph weddings and events with a unique photojournalist's viewpoint, and we take great pride in our ability to document the incredible people, places, and things that make Ottawa great through the work that we do with our commercial and editorial clients.
