Moving to Victoria BC for Retirement

02/18/2012 Victoria is certainly known world-wide as a tourist destination and many of the folks who visit from across Canada and further fall in love with this beautiful city. Some of them even end up moving to Victoria BC for retirement.
This is especially true of Canadian citizens, many of whom are tired of dealing with the harsh winters and hot summers experienced by much of the rest of the country. The temperate climate of the Greater Victoria area is much easier to manage, especially for older people who may be more sensitive to heat and cold. We get a bit of rain sometimes, but as they say – you don’t have to shovel it!
Victoria provides retired folks with time on their hands with tons of recreational opportunities too. You can golf year round here, go fresh water fishing or venture out on the chuck in search of salmon or other salt water delicacies. Today’s active seniors will find no shortage of outdoor activities and outdoor sports in which they may participate.
Over the years a higher than average number of people moving to Victoria for retirement has encouraged and sustained many social groups in local communities, making it easy for newcomers to meet and forge friendships with their peers. Check out the seniors centers in your community.
People from all over are moving to Victoria for all sorts of reasons, moving to Victoria for retirement is just one of them. And it’s not uncommon for their children to relocate here after visiting the folks. When they realize how much they miss living close to parents and grandparents (and it’s such a lovely city) they end up moving to Victoria for family!
