Permanent Makeup Toronto

03/26/2015 Permanent Makeup
Permanent Cosmetics, Permanent Makeup, or Permanent Makeup Tattoo is the revolutionary method of depositing hypoallergenic mineral pigments into the dermal layer of the skin. Our Eyeliner Permanent Makeup procedures is performed using Nouveau Contour devices: “state of the art”, fully computerized, digital machines that provide less trauma and excellent results. Permanent Eyebrows are done using a feathering hair stroke technique that utilizes a blade to add beautiful, natural looking hair strokes that complement your existing hairs, or can be used to create natural hair strokes if you have little or no eyebrows.

Why permanent cosmetics? The objective of these procedures is to raise self-esteem, self-confidence, allow for a more active lifestyle, personal freedom, as well as saving time. Both men and women who need, or are experiencing the following, realize the positive results of permanent makeup:

  • Scar Camouflage
  • Alopecia
  • Allergies to cosmetics
  • Unsteady Hands
  • Contact lens sensitivities
  • Areola Restoration
  • Visual impairments
  • Before and after Chemotherapy
The process of permanent cosmetics has been used and endorsed for years by Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons, Ophthalmologists, and Dermatologists. They embrace these procedures as non-surgical “cures”.
Permanent Cosmetic Procedures Available For Men and Women:

  • Eyebrows: Sparse, or nonexistent eyebrows
  • Eyeliner and eyelash enhancements
  • Lip lining, full lip color, lip reshaping for fullness
  • Scar and face lift scar restoration
  • Areola restoration
Whether you are getting your brows, eyes or lips enhanced, there are various treatment options depending on how natural, subtle or striking you want the end result to look.

Everyday Makeup
If you want to save time applying make-up every morning, then you could ask your permanent cosmetics artist to imitate your favorite eyeliner, lippy or brow pencil.

  • Eyes: An elite artist will be able to closely imitate your eyeliner – whether it is pencil, liquid or shaded.
  • Lips: For your favourite make-up look, take along your favourite lippy to your appointment and ask them to and mix their pigments to match.
  • Brows: City Power Brows and Powder Brows can provide you with fantastic brow definition if you prefer that look, rather than natural hairstrokes.
Natural look
If you want a result that imitates your natural features, then this could be a good choice for you. Here, our Permanent Makeup Artist will select extremely natural colors or blends, which will enhance your face rather than change your looks dramatically.

If you want realistic looking hairstroke brows, a youthful blush of natural color for your lips, or a little extra definition for your eyes, then this is a good option for you. The results will be less dramatic than some other options, and with the use of natural color blends, the results will blend into your natural features.

Reshape or Improve Symmetry
Permanent cosmetics can also be used to dramatically change how you look. If your lips have thinned over time, lip enhancements are a fantastic way to get more youthful, slightly fuller looking lips. You can also ask about our Botox and Dermal Filler Treatments to enhance your Permanent Cosmetic look.

Our experienced artist will be able to redesign certain elements of your brow shape, lip contour or lash line. Our Permanent Makeup Artist will be capable of redesigning your brow shape to better suit your appearance. Eyes and lip contour results can be absolutely stunning.

Frequently Asked Permanent Makeup Questions
What is Permanent Makeup? Permanent makeup has a variety of names as this industry strives to become autonomous and regulated. You will hear different names to describe the same procedure, such as: Permanent Makeup, Permanent Tattoo, Permanent Eyebrows, Permanent Eyeliner, Semi Permanent Makeup, Permanent Cosmetics, Feathering, Hair Stroke Eyebrows, 3D Eyebrows, and a combination of the above. The fact is that Permanent Makeup is the art and science of implanting pigment or color into your skin. Specialized machines or hand held devices, or even blades are used to implant color into the dermis layer of your skin.
What types of Permanent Cosmetics can be done? Permanent Cosmetics or Permanent Makeup can be used on the Eyebrows, Eyeliner, Lips, Areolas, Scars, etc. Second Skin Medspa specializes in Eyebrows and Upper and Lower Eyeliner. We want, and expect to be the best at what we do, and thus specializing in these procedures is what makes us the Best in Toronto for Permanent Eyebrows and Permanent Eyeliner.

We currently specialize in:
Permanent Eyebrows
Permanent Upper and Lower Eyeliner
How is Pigment or Color Implanted into the Skin? Because the outermost layer of skin, known as your epidermis, is constantly exfoliating and shedding off, it is important that your technician place the pigment or color into the dermis layer of your skin. Hair stroke techniques vary by technician, however, feathering or hair strokes for eyebrows, using a blade is the most effective technique to instill the pigment or color in the skin, while giving a very natural look to eyebrows. A machine is used to outline your eyelid(s) with pigment, giving a very straight line to your eyeliner, and emphasizing your eyes. After your procedure, both techniques and procedures will appear much darker than the final result. This is because the pigment or color is in the dermis and epidermis (top layer). Once the epidermis heals and sheds off some skin, the color will appear much more natural.
Will Permanent Makeup help with my Self Esteem? We like to think so. Many men and women lack some self-esteem and confidence because they feel that everybody is looking at their eyebrows penciled in, or lack of eyebrows. A lot of people have to check in the mirror many times a day to make sure their penciled in brows are still there and even. A lot of people do not have the time to “put their face on”. A lot of women don’t know how to pencil in or shade their eyebrows and get a clown look, McDonald eyebrow or hockey stick look. Other pencil or shade the brow in a way that makes them look angry or unapproachable. A simple 1-2 hour treatment of Permanent Makeup for permanent eyebrows or permanent eyeliner will help resolve these issues, and self-esteem and confidence levels have shown to improve dramatically, not to mention the time you save by not having to put your eyeliner on or pencil in your eyebrows constantly.
Are Permanent Eyebrows and Permanent Eyeliner really Permanent? As with most procedures on the body, nothing is ever truly permanent. With time your permanent makeup eyeliner or eyebrows will fade, and will need to be touched up. Most people come once every 2-3 years to have a touch up for their eyebrows or eyeliner, and this is perfectly acceptable. It is called permanent because the pigment does stay in the skin, however, it does fade, and most people like the dark, fresh look, rather than faded eyebrows. Some women don’t mind the faded look, and the results can last for years. This procedure, as with any cosmetic procedure, is very subjective and individualized.
Does the Permanent Eyebrows or Permanent Eyeliner procedure hurt? Again, everybody is different and pain is very subjective. Some people have very high pain thresholds and others do not. At Second Skin Medspa we use a very strong lidocaine numbing cream which really helps to diminish any pain. As well, for permanent eyebrows only, our medical technician can also inject lidocaine in the eyebrows which makes the procedure almost painless. Most clients tolerate the procedure well and have gone on to do other areas, as well as touch ups.
Why do I need a Touch-Up? Often the tattooed color is not perfect after the initial procedure heals. Permanent cosmetic procedures are a process and at least one follow-up to the initial procedure should be scheduled. It is recommended that any required detail work to the original procedure be performed no sooner than four weeks after the original procedure. The minimum standard for follow-up detail work for lip procedures is six weeks.
What will the Final Color Look Like? Permanent makeup colors should be selected to compliment a person’s skin tone, hair, and eye color. A conservative approach is best because it is easier to make an existing color darker versus lighter. Colors will always look darker and more intense immediately following a procedure, and then gradually lighten and soften upon healing. Second Skin Medspa keeps detailed records about your procedure, pigments used, etc.
What if I don’t Like the Final Results? Although the procedure is considered permanent, these procedures do have flexibility in changing color and shape to some extent, depending on the expertise of your technician. Colors will appear darker immediately following the procedure but will soften and lighten during the healing process. The healing time is different for each individual and procedure. It’s very important to realize that often the new procedure represents something somewhat different; at times color where there was no color at all or very little. It takes time to become acclimated to a new look (very often this applies to eyebrows which were sparse and unnoticeable before the permanent cosmetic brow procedure.) Eyeliner color is more evident due to the contrast to the skin color. We ask that you be patient and wait a couple of weeks after your procedure, so you can become used to your new look.
What if I need an MRI? By all means get the needed MRI. Temporary tingling, redness and swelling and a transient burning sensation have been reported for some with eyeliner tattoos. Advise your physician that you have a cosmetic tattoo. He or she may wish to place a wet cotton round over your eyes during the MRI.
I want to have Permanent Makeup, but your prices are too expensive! “You get what you pay for!” If you are thinking of using an online dealsite coupon or voucher, or using a non-certified Permanent Makeup technician to do your permanent makeup, permanent eyebrows and /or permanent eyeliner, than you are risking saving “lots” of money today and spending lots more later to get the issue fixed. We’ve seen the results of bad permanent makeup jobs and we’ve been asked to correct them, however, because of insurance and liability issues, we rarely correct other peoples work. The best thing to do is to visit the clinic you are thinking of having your procedure done, talk to the person who will be doing your procedure and look at their past work.
At Second Skin Medspa we take permanent makeup seriously and we’ve been voted one of the Best Medical Spas in Toronto for our treatments, services, customer service, cleanliness and strong hygienic standards.
