In 2023, HOOPP was proud to welcome 35 new employers, including hospices, community care and family health teams. As our membership continues to grow, “we believe that Ontario’s healthcare workers, wherever they work, deserve a secure lifetime pension in retirement,” says Steven McCormick, Chief Pension Officer. By expanding access to more healthcare organizations, our members can take their pension with them to any of the 670+ employers that participate in the plan. “Flexibility is key for our members…Instead of worrying about their financial future, they can focus on what matters most – taking care of Ontarians,” says Ivana Zanardo, Head of Plan Services. Recently, our HOOPP team had the pleasure of attending the BlackNorth Initiative’s second annual BlackNorth Excellence Gala. The event was held to recognize the contributions of the incredible people and organizations who are committed to advancing the mission to remove anti-Black systemic barriers in Canada. We’re honoured to have been part of this event dedicated to celebrating #BlackExcellence and commemorating the important work that the BlackNorth Initiative team, and its sponsors and supporters, are doing to create a more inclusive society.

Recently, HOOPP had the pleasure of hosting our 𝘙𝘦𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 event. The session featured a screening of the documentary, 'Your Hundred Year Life', exploring retirement systems and the longevity impacts on individuals, and the potential innovations to support the growing population of seniors.  Following the film, HOOPP’s Jennifer R., VP of Strategy, Global Intelligence & Advocacy, led a panel discussion with the documentary’s film maker, Theo Kocken, and were joined by industry experts F. Hubert Tremblay of Mercer Canada, Melissa Chang of NORC Innovation Centre, Keith Ambachtsheer of KPA Advisory Services Ltd., to further explore the documentary’s ideas and concepts.   As a long-standing advocate for improved retirement security, we are proud to encourage this dialogue and support industry leaders who contribute their perspectives on this conversation. HOOPP’s legal division has always played a key role in the success of our equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and that’s why we’re thrilled to share that our legal team is now a finalist for the Blakes Judy L. Wilson Diversity Award.  Part of the 2024 Canadian General Counsel Awards, the Blakes Judy L. Wilson Diversity Award recognizes a Canadian a law department which has demonstrated an innovative approach to encouraging and promoting diverse and inclusive workspaces within their organization and industry.
