Seeking Civil and Commercial Litigation Lawyer, 2-4 Years of Post-Call Experience Chand & Co. is a boutique law firm that specializes in litigation. Our lawyers are in court every week and are involved in high profile cases. Our firm continues to grow and expand into multiple areas of law. In light of this growing practice area, we are actively looking for a highly competent, experienced, organized, innovative and passionate civil and commercial litigation lawyer to provide support to our growing practice. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria: · Be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario; · Have 2-4 years of post-call experience practicing civil and commercial litigation in Ontario; · Have extensive experience in the preparation of pleadings and further documentation pursuant to the Rules of Civil Procedure and applicable law; · Have significant, independent experience handling all stages of civil and commercial litigation proceedings including but not limited to case management conferences, motion hearings, trials and appeals; · Have strong communication, advocacy, and mediation skills; · Be comfortable having sole carriage of civil and commercial litigation files; · Be able to delegate tasks to articling students and support staff, as necessary; · Be able to work autonomously, as well as collaboratively with our legal and support staff; · Be familiar with current trends in the civil and commercial litigation profession (preferred, not mandatory); and, Benefits and perks of the job include: · A competitive base salary and hourly rate; · Generous commission arrangements based on billable targets and files you bring into the firm; · Full-time remote work; and, · Flexible work hours. We are looking to work alongside a few first-year law students who wish to improve their legal writing. Students are expected to research legal topics and write subsequent articles for the firm website. The students will be able to receive feedback from a lawyer and strengthen their writing ability. This is a great opportunity to learn the day-to-day operations of a law firm while also getting constructive feedback from legal professionals. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
