One of the trickiest areas for small HR teams to oversee is learning and development. With limited time and limited budget it is an area that is rarely seen as the number one priority. That said, there will never be a 'good' time to dedicate to learning. If we look at it as a big time consuming thing, it gets harder to conceptualize how we could ever manage to fit it into our days. In thinking about how to solve this at an organizational-level at PolicyMe, there were many questions to answer. What do managers need to know to lead? What do individual contributors need to know to perform? What do executives need to know to run the business well? For me, having a thoughtful partner that knew more about this than I did was key to building something that worked to support the business in a sustainable way, from both a time and money perspective.
