Sloane's House- Pediatric Respite Care Facility
Our daughter Sloane was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder called Aicardi Syndrome at five weeks old. Our lives were dramatically changed from that day forward. As a pediatric nurse myself, I was able to recognize the seizures quickly, thus getting a diagnosis and treatment plan in place immediately. Due to the severity of Sloane's seizures, she spent the most of her first 2 years of life at the Hospital for Sick Children. The level of stress and exhaustion was overwhelming, and soon…

As a pediatric nurse myself, I was able to recognize the seizures quickly, thus getting a diagnosis and treatment plan in place immediately. Due to the severity of Sloane's seizures, she spent the most of her first 2 years of life at the Hospital for Sick Children. The level of stress and exhaustion was overwhelming, and soon affected the health of our entire family. We have crossed paths with many families walking this journey alone and struggling to keep up, sacrificing their own wellbeing for their child.
It is with this reality and our passion for our community, that we have this dream of a home where children would be loved and cared for while parents/caregivers could have time to rest, recoup, or get away on a vacation. An opportunity for these amazing children to gain experiences and joys they may not have the resources for in their home.
