Barbara Smyth has an award-winning career in interior design, project management, general contracting, and is the pioneer of VOD interior design and co-founder of Plan Bleu Architecture and Interiors, Inc. Originally from Quebec. Barbara received her interior design degree from the Cegep de Trois-Rivières, Quebec, in 1986, and her scenography degree from UBC in 2002. Her 30 years of experience and recognition speak loudly about her talent and expertise. The fact that she has worked on projects in Canada, the United States, and Japan demonstrates her designs' global reach and popularity. Barbara's ability to comprehend and balance her clients' requirements and styles is critical to her success. The ability to combine usefulness with beauty and create timeless homes demonstrates a deliberate and holistic approach to interior design. Her style is distinguished by elegance, brilliant colour, fine detailing, and a genuine expression of the customer. She has amassed a team of skilled consultants and contractors over the years, allowing her to produce valuable interiors for today's and future demands.
Barbara has worked on GOLD LEED projects and managed luxury residences in Karuizawa, Japan, where all components, suppliers, millwork fixtures, and delicate marble flooring were manufactured in Vancouver, BC and sent to Japan. Barbara is enthusiastic about sharing her knowledge and talent, and has just created a program called "Interior Design for Beginners: Fun!" which she teaches at five Community Centres in Vancouver, BC.
