About us

MIC Medical Imaging started as Medical Imaging Consultants in 1996 with the merger of four local radiology groups. Now we are Alberta’s largest radiology partnership. We have 96 radiologists with diverse subspecialties and areas of expertise and over 450 technologists and support staff, operating in 13 clinic locations in Edmonton and surrounding communities. MIC is an expert and trusted partner to Edmonton and area primary care practitioners and specialists. MIC radiologists play an essential role in eight Edmonton area hospitals, providing diagnostic imaging at the Ft. Saskatchewan, Grey Nuns, Mazankowski Heart Institute, Royal Alexandra, Stollery Children’s, Strathcona Community, Sturgeon General, Leduc Community and University hospitals. The specialists at these hospitals trust our radiologists to provide expert advice and recommendations in a wide range of sub-specialties. We are proud to be able to extend the same expert level of diagnostic imaging to practitioners and patients through our 12 community-based clinics located in Edmonton, St. Albert, Ft. Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park. Our radiologists take a collaborative approach and draw on our ‘in-house’ expertise when reviewing scans and dealing with complex conditions. We are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our patients, from the moment you speak to one of our Central Booking agents, through to the quality of the care we provide at your appointment. And while you may not meet the radiologist during your appointment, rest assured they are involved in your medical imaging from start to finish. We look forward to welcoming you to one of our clinics and taking care of your medical imaging needs.

🌟 Celebrating Women in Health Month 🌟 Join us as we celebrate the remarkable women driving innovation and excellence at MIC Medical Imaging during Women in Health Month! 👩💼 Meet Tina Anderson, our own Clinical Applications Manager. In our Q&A, Tina shares her invaluable insights and experiences, shedding light on the impactful journey of a woman in the medical field. ➡️ Here's one more question we asked: Q:What did you want to be (when you grew up) when you were little? A:My parents instilled in me the belief that I could be and do anything. They supported me through all my phases and allowed me to pursue my passions without limitations. When I decided that I wanted to be a fashion designer, they gave me sketchbooks and paired me up with my grandma, who patiently showed me how to bring my creations to life on her sewing machine. When I said that I wanted to be an astronaut, they encouraged me to reach for the stars. 🌟 Although you could be looking down on us from the moon, we're glad you're gazing up at the stars with us while leading our clinical applications team to new heights. Let's celebrate Tina's accomplishments and the inspiring narratives of women across our organization throughout May. Stay tuned for more empowering stories from our MIC family! 🌟

Being a leader isn’t reserved for those who hold a title." 🌟Although you could've been directing patients around as a nurse, we're delighted you're directing operations at MIC instead. MIC Medical Imaging offers three advanced treatments for venous insufficiency: 1. Ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy: 🦋 Veins are carefully mapped, and medication is injected through small needles with ultrasound guidance to close refluxing veins. 2. Radiofrequency ablation: 🔥 Heat is used to shrink and close varicose vein walls, addressing the underlying issue. 3. Venaseal™️: 🩹A specialized adhesive seals diseased veins, redirecting blood flow to healthy veins. Please note that Alberta Health Care covers varicose vein assessments only. The minimally invasive treatments mentioned are not covered. Venous insufficiency treatments at MIC start at $350 per leg, depending on the procedure. 💰 To learn more about varicose vein treatments at MIC, including procedure details, specific cost, recovery timeline, etc., visit: https://lnkd.in/gXTEQehx

Can varicose veins occur in only one leg? 🦵 Yes, varicose veins can develop in almost any part of the body, depending on the health of the veins. Typically, they manifest in the lower extremities, and it's common for symptoms to appear in one leg before the other. Healthcare professionals are still researching the exact reasons, but many believe it could be due to damage to the vein or valve on that particular side of the body. 💡

👋 What is the difference between varicose veins and spider veins? 👋 Varicose veins appear as twisted ropes protruding above the skin. 🌀 🕸️ Spider veins, on the other hand, are small clusters of red, blue, or purple veins that form a web-like pattern just below the skin's surface. While both can cause discomfort, varicose veins are a medical condition resulting from chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). 👩⚕️ 👪 Spider veins, however, are primarily a cosmetic concern influenced by factors such as genetics and hormonal changes. At MIC Medical Imaging, our interventional radiologists specialize in evaluating and treating varicose veins associated with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). 💼 To learn more about varicose veins, visit https://lnkd.in/gXTEQehx
