For unpaid caregivers being ‘sandwiched’ has a negative impact: StatCan Being an unpaid caregiver can be detrimental to Canadians’ well-being, for those between caring for dependent adults at the same time as dependent youth, according to a Statistics Canada (StatCan) report released this week. https://shorturl.at/ijpY1 Are you that caregiver taking care of youth or children and adults with a long-term condition or disability? You are not alone. According to the StatCan report, 1.8 million Canadians are Sandwich Caregivers.  Over 75% reported feeling tired, worried, or overwhelmed.  Nearly two-thirds of sandwich caregivers said their responsibilities affected their employment. As the Director of Care at Choice Homecare, Victoria Wallace has witnessed firsthand the profound effects of caregiving on families. Victoria who has interacted with many of our clients, echoes these sentiments, stating: Balancing caregiving duties with personal needs and obligations is a relentless juggle, often leading to burnout and stress. It's crucial that we recognize and support these individuals who selflessly devote themselves to caring for their loved ones.” If you or someone you know is struggling to find caregiving support, don't hesitate to reach out to us. We are here to offer assistance and guidance every step of the way.
