Over 60 healthcare professionals gathered to enhance administrative processes and improve patient care quality. The event sparked vibrant discussions and networking, with participants exchanging valuable insights and ideas. Just last week, we welcomed a new team of B4 School Check Nurses for a two-day induction. The B4 School Check is an opportunity for early childhood educators and health professionals to work together to support the health, development and wellbeing of young children by identifying and following up on any health or development issues before they start school. #childhealthawarenessmonth

Last week, our incredible Immunisation Coordinator, Rachael Prestidge, delivered an informative session to vaccinators in Waitaha Canterbury, focusing on the updates to the childhood national immunisation schedule. "As an immunisation coordinator, supporting and educating our vaccinators is a vital part of our role," Rachael said. "We conduct sessions throughout the year to ensure their knowledge stays current. This session specifically addressed the recent changes to the childhood national immunisation schedule, including updates to the pneumococcal vaccine and the addition of the meningococcal B vaccine. When vaccinators are aware of the reasons behind changes it supports them to confidently discuss these immunisations with whānau and to recommend tāmariki are immunised". #childhealthawarenessmonth

Yesterday we celebrated the launch of our Refugee Health Service, a confidential and free health service supporting former refugees access healthcare in Christchurch and Ashburton. The Refugee Health service support includes help with general practice (GP) enrolments, guidance through initial GP appointments, interpretation services, and assistance in accessing various health services including pharmacies, labs, maternity care, optometry, dental care and other health related support as needed. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the incredible team involved in bringing this service to life, an important step in supporting former refugees in their journey in Aotearoa.
