There are a number of different home renovation companies available on the market. So how do you choose the right one? We suggest reading reviews, asking your family and friends for referrals, and doing your own research. Once you contact a home renovation company, ask questions to gain insight into what they offer, their skills and value propositions, any insurance coverage, and overall find the contractor that best fits your needs.

We do not have WSIB as we do not have employees working on payroll. Instead, we work with licensed trade professionals (plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, etc), as well as all of our subcontractors are insured, so you are 100% covered.

Yes, Luxe Home Renovation, as well as all of our subcontractors and partners, are all insured with liability insurance.

We have a 1-year warranty on our projects. We will also gladly visit your home for free touch-ups in any case where we could have missed something. However, we do not cover physical damage caused after us or if there is a structural movement or damage to the house that is due to nature. Many of the products we use usually provide 25 years to a lifetime warranty.

Homeowners may decide to stay in their home during the renovation. It all depends on your preference and budget. However, most of our clients prefer not to live in the house especially if it's a full home renovation for their own convenience. Regardless, if you choose to stay at the house, you are more than welcome! We always keep our clients informed through every step of the process, by meeting at the job site, video conferencing and phoning, and providing open communication so you will be 100% involved and up to date.

The cost per square foot varies depending on a number of factors in the home renovation project. These include but are not limited to: what exactly is being done in the house, the number of square footage, and the complexity of the home renovation itself. It is important to note, not every type of home renovation is calculated by square footage. For example, bathrooms, kitchens, stairs, hand railings, trims, plumbing and electrical are calculated differently, so the cost per square foot is not an exact or concrete price.

With that said, you can expect to pay anywhere between $25-$30/SQF. This includes the cost of labour to do demolition, to redo all your flooring in the house (hardwood, laminate, tiling), to do baseboards and trim work, and to paint walls, ceilings and trim.

Furthermore, you can expect an upwards cost of $60-$70/SQF for labour if it involves a new custom made kitchen (materials included), a couple of bathroom renovations, new stairs (materials included), drywall, mudding, taping, pot lights, painting, trim, baseboards, flooring, and waterproofing.

Again, each project is very individual and not all home renovations are calculated by square foot. Your specific project could cost much less than that, or in another instance, your specific custom kitchen alone could cost $25,000-$35,000 or more. Thus, we encourage our clients to request a quote to receive the most accurate estimate and learn about all the options and details before finalizing a deal. You and your wallet will thank us later!

Price quotes are usually sent within a couple of days following the request. Depending on the complexity and the number of trades involved, this could be longer. If there are many trades participating, then we need to make sure all parties are on the same page and we can adjust the workload accordingly to give an accurate price quote. We prefer not to rush to avoid having to add extras later on in the project.

We do most of the work ourselves, however, we do have a few subcontractors with who we have been working together for years. We can guarantee 100% satisfaction on their behalf. We would not work with anyone who is not meeting our own high standards of excellence.

Basement renovation costs vary and can be anywhere between $35-$90/SQF. The cost depends on the size of the room, adding roughings for a bathroom and kitchen, framing, drywalling, whether the floors need to be leveled, and more. As a whole, a basement’s design is the greatest factor that influences the price of renovations. An unfinished basement will cost significantly more than a finished or semi-finished basement will cost to renovate. If there are roughings from the builder, it will cost a lot less to build a bathroom compared to digging the concrete out in order to make roughings for the kitchen and bathroom. Each project is calculated on a case-by-case basis.

From day 1 of the project, our whole team will be 100% dedicated to only you and will be working for you as well as with you until the project is complete. We value your feedback and approval so in our eyes, the project is complete when you are 100% satisfied, and only then we will move on to our new project. Although this creates a longer waiting time for our team, the fact that we can dedicate ourselves to one project at a time and not run around between multiple projects has proved itself successful with our client satisfaction. Many of our clients are willing to wait for us to start on their projects for months, and our high number of returning clients who book us again a year in advance to come back and work on another project in their house speaks volumes.

Every home renovation project does not require a building permit. You only need a building permit when you want to change the structure of the house, or add anything that didn't exist prior. If you renovate your pre-existing kitchen or remodel your bathroom with new flooring or a paint job, for example, you likely will not need a building permit for those relatively smaller design changes.

Our payment structure usually is 30%, 40%, 30% + materials (unless agreed otherwise). For smaller and faster projects, you could see a payment process asking for 50% at the start, and 50% + materials at the end.

If you need some advice or helpful tips during the design phase, we work with designers who can help you visualize your ideas. This service will however come at an extra cost. We personally can recommend the type of materials that might work best in terms of quality and durability, but we never recommend the colour or shape a client should choose, as we truly believe that each design and taste is very individual. We encourage clients to hone their creative side and express their individuality. There is no right or wrong answer! So go with what you desire and live out your specific tastes and preferences.

The first piece of advice we offer on how to prepare before a renovation is to have a clear picture of what you'd like to change and see in your renovation.

- Create a plan! It is much easier to work and follow an outlined course of action. Of course, we can add, remove and change things along the way, but at least you will have the big picture of what you'd like to have. Know what you want and what will meet your personal needs best.
- Know your budget and share it with your contractor. We are here in your best interest of you! We are only looking to provide you with an estimate and there is no bonding or obligations. A contractor will help you understand if your budget is feasible for your project. For example, if your budget is $20,000 and you'd like to have a new kitchen, bathroom, flooring and paint the house, this is likely not enough. At the same time, if you want a new bathroom, repaint the house and new flooring, and your budget is $150,000 this is probably way too much and you will end up spending quite a lot less than you may have expected.
- Decide where you're going to stay. If you're gutting the house, likely for the majority of the renovation project, the house will not be in a livable condition for you and your family. Make sure you have a plan and place to stay if needed.
- Plan and expect surprises, especially in older houses. The more you touch and take out, the more surprises may be found that need to be addressed, such as mold, unleveled flooring and sketchy electrical work that was done before by previous homeowners.
