Your adventure-loving Fierce Goddess Empowerment Photographer

These boudoir photos are me, two sides of me. In some photos you’ll see my smooth skin, a delicate little bow on my ass. You can see how the light casts across my back, accentuating my curves. The rich contrast of red panties against my olive skin, highlighted by gold body jewelry draping gently across my body. All of it. The textures, the rich colours all designed to accentuate and highlight this glamorous side of me. Boudoir is a total mind and body experience. Experiencing my own boudoir shoot made me use words I’ve never used to describe myself: confident, sexy, hot, beautiful, desired, magazine-worthy, poised, and it certainly made me want to send almost every single one of them to my partner….but as I reviewed my boudoir photos and lusted click after click I suddenly stopped short.
My dreaded stomach, covered in stretch marks, 30lbs heavier than my pre-children weight, the area I am most self-conscious of that Lacy tried to tell me was beautiful and strong. My stomach didn’t provoke the same feelings I felt from all of my other photos; instead it provoked feelings that reminded me of every other woman’s comments pre-booking a boudoir session, “I need to lose weight before I do boudoir.” “I don’t like my ____”. I studied the image. I let my eyes take it in.
We feel it, all of us. Insecure, unsafe, vulnerable, exposed. And maybe that’s part of why you should do a boudoir shoot, to help show you ALL of you. Because you can be both; the woman with delicate, soft, smooth skin and the woman with bumpy, uneven, scarred areas that you’re self-conscious of. Lacy didn’t take that photo for her, she took it for me. A gift to remind me how strong I am to have been vulnerable and exposed with her, even if only for one photo shared between us, just a moment between me and my photographer (or to be shared with you all here anonymously).
The collection of my boudoir photos showed me that you can be insecure and still feel sexy. Boudoir doesn’t change your insecurities, but it does remind you that you are not defined by them. You can feel exposed, vulnerable, and strong, like a woman in chains fighting against her own body image and yet somehow, miraculously also be made to feel beautiful, sexy, delicate, feminine, and desirable. Perhaps, if you’re willing to give Lacy (and yourself a chance) you too can feel like a fierce goddess.
