06/18/2020 This week many provinces across Canada have experience the first heat wave of the season. Now, we won't complain about the weather being too hot, after-all, it's nice to get a break from the Canadian winter, but heatwaves aren't fun.
Getting Creative with our Cha-Cha Chaga TeaLet's be honest, there is nothing better than a cold glass of iced tea on a hot sunny day. That's exactly why we gave a shot to creating an iced chaga tea to enjoy during summer. To bring a different flavour to it, we've decided to infuse it with strawberries to elevate the sweetness and lemon, to add that vitamin C boost and offer extra hydration support.

The results were beyond what we expected! This iced Cha-Cha Chaga tea with strawberry and lemon will not disappoint and it's now our new favourite summer drink. Easy to make, delicious taste and incredible benefits – what can be better than that!

Iced Chaga Tea with Strawberries and LemonIngredients:

  • 2 teaspoons of loose chaga tea (powder or small grinded raw chaga chunks)
  • 8 cups (2 litres) of filtered water
  • 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 of medium sized lemon
  • 1/2 table spoon of maple syrup (optional, we did not find a need to use it!)
How to make:

Firstly, you will need to make sure you have a tea infuser, tea bags or mesh bags to brew loose chaga tea. Grab a medium-sized pot, combine 8 cups of filtered water with 2 teaspoons of chaga tea and let steep on a stovetop over medium-low heat setting for about 3-4 hours. Check in at the 2 and a half hour mark for the taste, if you don't find it strong enough, brew for longer, taste testing it every 30 minutes until you reach your desired tea strength. Remove from the stove, take out the chaga tea (save it for later to steep a cup of chaga tea or a latte!) and let cool off.

Once your chaga tea is cooled, pour it in a jug (if you're using plastic jug, make sure that the tea is not too hot). Add frozen strawberries; cut half of your lemon in 4 pieces and add to the jug. If you want a sweeter result, you can add some maple syrup or other natural sweetener of your choice. Give it a couple of stirs, close the lid and place in the fridge for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight to complete the infusion.

Once the infusion process is completed, take the strawberries and lemons out of the jug and voila.– your iced chaga tea is ready. Serve over ice and decorate with fresh strawberry and lemon slices.
