About Calgary Wedding Photographers - Red Plains Photography
Established January 2010
We're two Calgary
photographers and two friends. One of us grew up in the red woods over the West
Coast and the other in the gold plains of Saskatchewan. Together we make Red
Plains Photography and we're obsessed with taking photos.
Instrinsically we believe there's goodness locked up in the world for us to find. We want to find it in you
I'm not sure what I like more. Breathing or Lord of the Rings.
I grew up in a town of 600 and I value community, family, friends, laughter, and a well brewed cup of coffee.
How did I get into photography? When I was 14, I stole my Moms camera. My life changed. Nothing felt more natural than photographing the unseen details of my environment. But before I ever held a camera, I spent years sitting beside my mom watching her edit photos. Working my way up to the point where I would critique her pictures, make albums, and eventually edit on my own. I'm the third generation of photographers in my family (Grandmother, Mother, me), and everything they've taught me flows through my veins.

The only thing I enjoy more than playing the guitar is playing guitar.
I like designing things. Whether it's creating the dynamic of a picture, website, event planning, or the crescendo song. I love the arts and every form of it.
How did I get into photography? When I was 9 years old I asked my grandma if I could photograph her. I grabbed a roll of my Moms film and slammed it into the camera. My grandma stood there, awkwardly posing for the camera. By my third shot of tension I wasn't satisfied. I looked up and yelled out to her "What a babe!" Immediately she broke from her stoic stance and laughed. I quickly raised my camera and snapped my first shot. Her face was lit with a spontaneous and profound sense of joy. I had captured a photo of something incredibly special to me.
