Since 1986, Emperor Specialty Foods Ltd has been a leader in importing and distributing premium gourmet foods, with a focus on fresh and dried mushrooms, truffles, and fine ingredients. The company initially began with fresh shiitake mushrooms, transitioning in 1995 to importing mushrooms from China and local sources. By 1998, they pioneered the regular importation of fresh mushrooms from China via ocean shipment, expanding their reach across Canada and the U.S. In 2001, they opened an office in China to enhance supplier relations and diversify their offerings, including imported fruits and vegetables. Their Vancouver facility also produces organic fresh shiitake mushrooms.
