Jeanette and Lindsay Walker are Island artists whose inspirations are steeped in the past. Together they work from their studio / gallery in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
Jeanette, a Designer / Goldsmith creates fine jewellery using ancient techniques of Repousse, Sand-Casting and Forging, working with sterling, white, pink, yellow, or green gold, and platinum.
"There is nothing more satisfying to me than the hands on manipulation of metal. I feel objects made by human hands appear to have a distinct presence of personality and soul."
Jeanette attempts to create pieces that capture a feeling of romance and the unexpected.
Lindsay's paintings are uncomplicated, depicting quiter, simpler times and Island traditions. In his frank depiction of rural life, he hints at the delicate balance between man and nature and how we run the risk of losing that balance forever.
"A rusted out old tractor put to rest in the woods, now discarded and forgotten, most people would see as junk. I see its beauty amongst the branches and leaves. I imagine its history, and feel the need to honour its days of past glory."
